Twenty-three police departments across the state of New Jersey have been granted funds from the Division of Highway Traffic Safety for a DWI enforcement initiative called “Over the Limit, Under Arrest.”
The public initiative is a nationwide event that was created to cut back on the amount of impaired drivers on the roadway. According to the DHTS, impaired driving kills someone in America every 30 minutes.
The new initiative came with extra funds that gave money to police officials in order for them to work more hours during the night. With more officers on the road, this would mean a more watchful eye out for drunken drivers.
