Man faces charges after boating accident

Posted on Thursday, July 8th, 2010 at 8:42 am

One man was killed and two other injured in a boating accident near the Statue of Liberty. The driver of the other boat that caused the collision now faces charges of vehicular homicide and operating a boat while under the influence.

In New Jersey, the blood-alcohol limit for driving a car or boat is .o8. If a person is caught drinking and operating a boat, they could not only lose their driving privileges on a boat, but also their driving privileges in a car. The accident occurred when the victim’s boat was struck by a 30-foot boat operated by the man who was charged.

Boating accidents can be unexpected yet can cause serious injury, our thoughts are with family of the victim.
