Man accepts plea bargain in nursing home abuse case

A 29-year-old man in Santa Barbara has agreed to a plea bargain of three years probation for disregarding a dependent adult in his care.
The man was formerly employed at the Central Coast Nursing Center where he was a nursing assistant. He was charged with performing a lewd act on a dependent adult, and sexual battery of that individual. He is currently in jail serving a two-year sentence for engaging in a sexual relationship with a female who was under the age of legal consent.
While on probation, the nursing assistant will not be able to work in a nursing home. His record will also come up when a potential employer runs a background check on his qualifications. He has already had to register as a sex offender due to his previous conviction and jail sentence.
