Deer-auto collisions on the rise in New Jersey

According to insurance providers, the number of auto-deer collisions have gone up 21 percent in the last five years causing more that one million car accidents per year.
New Jersey is also noticing this trend and has had an increase over the past four years as well. Insurance providers have said that the average accident cost is $3,103 in these situations. Also, reports show that almost 200 people are killed each year in an accident with a deer or after swerving to avoid a deer in the road.
Some blame the high number in deer-auto crashes on the speed limits on the roads, especially back roads where deer are more likely to be. A car will sustain major damage when traveling high speeds and striking an animal even if it is relatively small.
If you or a family member has been in an accident with a deer after travling on roadways that have speed limits that are too fast for the conditions, contact the Howell car accident lawyers of Levinson and Axelrod by calling 800-346-5529 today.
